Mother’s Day: It’s Your Big Day, Too
There are more than 80 million mothers in the
United States, and a large proportion of them are
looking forward to a nice meal in a restaurant on
Mother’s Day, May 13. In fact, Mother’s Day is
the restaurant industry’s biggest sales day of the
year, with the National Restaurant Association
estimating that 75 million adults dined out on
Mother’s Day last year.
For restaurants, Mother’s Day is not only a key
selling occasion but also an opportunity to make a good impression on diners who may not be
part of the establishment’s regular patron base.
If they have a great experience, they’re likely
to tell their friends, and they may be back for
another occasion.
By the same token, restaurants have a chance on Mother’s Day to fail spectacularly. As with most
endeavors, the difference between triumph and failure usually comes down to thorough preparation.
